and Objective: |
| Mega City
Programme, a centrally sponsored scheme was conceived in the year
1993-1994 to transform and develop the metro cities of india with
a population of 40 lakhs and above. |
| The objective
of the scheme is to bridge the gap between the existing infrastructural
facilities and actual need of these ever growing metros. |
| TUFIDCO
is the nodal agency for the implementation of Mega City Programme
in chennai. |
| MCP
is implemented by the agencies
which lie within the jurisdiction of the Chennai Metropolitan Area(CMA). |

Town Panchayats (28 Nos) in CMA.
Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority.
Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board.

Tamil Nadu Housing Board.
Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board.
Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation.
Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (projects within CMA)
and other agencies involved in developing urban infrastructure within
CMA.

of inner ring roads / outer ring roads and by-passes around mega

and development or expansion of "Truck Terminals" |

to the water supply, sewerage and drainage systems in the city. |

waste disposal schemes and setting up of urban waste composing plants
in the city. |
| J, Environmental
improvement and sanitation and city beautification schemes. |
| K,Construction
of large commercial and trade complexes and national / International
convention centers, World Trade and Exhibition Centres and the like. |

of buildings like Working Women's hostels, tourist's complexes (but
not hotels), night shelters with community toilets etc
